Website Accessibility
Designing the website for our Duluth bed and breakfast with digital accessibility in mind ensures that individuals with diverse abilities can have a seamless and enjoyable online experience planning their Duluth getaway and the fine details of their stay at our bed and breakfast. With the internet being an integral part of our daily lives, it is crucial that it is accessible to everyone, irrespective of their abilities.
At our Bed and Breakfast in Duluth, we are committed to making our services and products accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We have a website accessibility partner and team making every effort to meet evolving standards, including those set forth in 36 CFR Parts 1193 and 1194 (January 18, 2017)Because we believe in access to knowledge independent of physical barriers, we’ve designed the Solglimt Bed and Breakfast website for ease of navigation, understanding, and interaction. In particular, we work to implement the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA and Europe’s EN 301 549 guidelines. Following are more details.
Language Tagging: Each page on our website is compatible with language information-assist systems, including audible speak-back software and Braille translators. We are also working to provide sign language interpretation and prerecorded audio content in synchronized media as an alternative to text.
Label Tags: Labels and titles on our pages make it easier for you to find content and get around our website with fewer keystrokes.
Image Text Alternatives: We have added missing label tags on images throughout our website and are including an image for every page that you can use as an alternative to text. We are working to make images that help you quickly find the content you want without having to distinguish among colors.
Easier Keyboard Access: We are making it easier for you to navigate our entire bed and breakfast website with your keyboard alone.
Re-Sizing Text: We are adding more ways for you to change the text size, font, and line spacing. Large-scale text and images of large-scale text will have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1. You can also zoom in on text and images.
Video and Audio Controls: We are adding easy-to-find controls for prerecorded audio and video content.
Note
Creating a website that is easy to navigate, regardless of user abilities, is critical to providing a universal digital experience. But for this little bed and breakfast in Duluth, Minnesota, it means more. Making our website accessible is simply the right thing to do from the standpoint of social responsibility.
Many people may have visual or cognitive impairments, or they may be using a mobile device or a slower internet connection. An accessible website takes these factors into account and provides a user-friendly experience for everyone, regardless of their abilities or technology.
Providing an accessible website means each and every potential bed and breakfast guest we host here in Duluth can easily find information about bed and breakfast facilities and accommodations. It also helps them to make informed decisions about a getaway to Duluth.
Customers should really demand website accessibility from a bed and breakfast to ensure that everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, can easily access and navigate the site. We hope our efforts create a welcoming and inclusive environment at our Duluth bed and breakfast and ultimately lead to a better overall customer experience.
Our website accessibility efforts are ongoing. Some pages, such as content from a third party, may not conform fully to accessibility standards. We are revising and updating this content.
